You Want HOW Much for Checks?!

Wal-Mart Checks

Thanks to Clark Howard (I love that guy!), I fired my “giant monster mega-bank” and joined my company’s credit union.  So far, they have been absolutely great!  However, I was very surprised to find out that they didn’t offer free checks.  But they did offer 120 of their basic blue checks for ONLY $17.

No thank you!

After a two-day long quest of searching for the best deals for ordering checks online, I have found a winner.  And unfortunately, that winner is Wal-Mart.

Now, I’m not a huge fan of Wal-Mart, simply because I worked at two different ones in the past, and I got screwed by both of them.  Have you seen Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price?  I know first-hand that a lot of the stuff in that documentary is true.  HOWEVER.  I was on a search for the best deal, and all of the crazy places that looked appealing really stuck it to you with shipping charges.  walmartchecks.com offers boxes of checks (150) for $5.95.  The best part is, their shipping is only $2.75!  So, I decided to give Wal-Mart a try, ordering a box of duplicates (only $1 extra) in the style above on late Thursday afternoon.  Even though I picked the slow shipping, they were at my door by Tuesday morning! I didn’t have to agonize about anything being misspelled or my account numbers being off.  Everything looked great. The checks looked better than they did in the photo.  My satisfaction was guaranteed.  And I saved almost $10.

Unfortunately, there was no complimentary checkbook cover.  But lucky for me, I found a nice seller with a nice Etsy shop who offers a great deal on personalized ones, so I’m giving this shopping (for things with which I will shop) excursion a double win!
