I’m not sure whether this should be one story or four.
In a week, I lost my relationship, my new house, and my car.
There was a flood. But before that, there was a storm.
And yet, certain parts of this week have been the best, most liberating moments of my life so far. I have done things I have never done before. I have seen things I have never seen. And if I had to do it all over again, knowing that in the end I would be without home, car, or The Boyfriend, I still would. I would do it all over again. I could let this crush me, and it wouldn’t be that difficult a task. Because the rain is still not even over yet; they’re still searching for bodies, and there is more rain to come, which means there is likely to be more catastrophe on the horizon. I am just going to have to refuse to let it defeat me and try to make the best out of it all–maybe even build a boat! So, before I recount stories of the past few days, let me just stop for now and express my thoughts and concerns to all of you in the Southern states who are going through similar situations, and to those who aren’t as lucky as I was. Best wishes to you all; may I sleep until October?

I am so sorry about this flood. They keep us ignorant in Detroit. You look great!
