Week One: I ‘Wannabe’ a Better Dancer

“Yo I’ll tell you what I want, what I really really want

So tell me what you want, what you really really want

I wanna -OW!-I wanna -OW!- I wanna really really really wanna -I HATE THIS EFFIN’ GAME!!!

That was me, playing Just Dance last night on the Wii. I was saying some not-so-nice words because not only am I extremely uncoordinated and a horrible dancer, but I also kept slapping myself repeatedly in the face with the cord.

After about thirty minutes of doing so, I realized, hey. I don’t think I’m supposed to be using the nunchuck with this game.

So, did I look like this tiny person playing this game?

Uh, no. Not in the least. I looked more like Steve Urkel, when he busts into the Winslow home and knocks everything in the kitchen over.

Regardless, I got off my ass and was moving.  And while I don’t see this game being fun for an extended amount of time, at least it’s a start.  However, anyone who would like to get me a Wii Dance Mat so I can try some of the more fun games will personally get a private showing of how impossible it is for me to move both my hands and feet at the same time.

This has been a weekend of changes for me, hopefully for the better. As stated in my previous blog, a new Jebbica is looming on the horizon. A skinnier, prettier, overall more healthy Jebbica. And hopefully that will lead to a happier, more confident me.

It started with the haircut:

Which is both crippling and liberating to me at the same time.

Then there were the weekend eating-out-expeditions.  Check me out! I opted for a Roast Chicken Ranch combo at Arby’s, hold the ranch, substitute a salad for fries.  And at Mama Mia’s, a local restaurant known for its huge portions and giant sandwiches and delectable pasta, I ordered a turkey and jam sandwich on wheat bread with a salad. And at the end of these meals, I was still stuffed! And the food was still good!  It’s common sense to cut out sodas and sweet tea and go with water, substitute fries for salads, etc.  But willpower? That is a harder concept to grasp.

Yesterday was also our monthly grocery day, and our buggy (yes, that’s what we call them in the South) was loaded with fresh fruits and vegetables and munchy food with words like “gluten free” or “multi grain” in their titles.  And instead of candy and ice cream, we got things like cocoa-dusted almonds (which are delicious, by the way).  So, the initial steps have been put into place.  It’s the end of Week One; will I have the stamina and drive to last through weeks Two, Eight, forever?

I’ll tell you what I want, what I really really want.  I want to be the girl who is happy with herself in every way possible. Who doesn’t feel self-conscious about having a full-length photo taken. Who doesn’t want to die after the end of the “warm-up” on the Wii The Biggest Loser game.  I want to be that girl. Also: I wanna zig-a-zig-ah.
