A couple of weeks ago I watched Elf for the first time. When I heard Zooey Deschanel sing “Baby it’s Cold Outside” in the shower, I was like, wow, she’s great! She should put out an album! Then The Boyfriend was like, um, she already has. With some dude.
That dude turned out to be M. Ward, of whom I am a fan. The band is She & Him, and pretty much every song is phenomenal. So, here’s my weekly playlist, Zooey edition!

Sctually It turns out that Ms. Zeschanel is now engaged to Deathcab For Cutie’s Ben Gibbard.
Kinda gives his music less justification for that airy whine that his vocals have hinged on upon late. Perhaps he will relent to Posessing Zooey’s heart nowadays in private and regaling us with less overt sentiments?
The former Dismemberment Plans and Missions of Burmas plead on their behalves, Mr. Gibbard.
Transatlanticism was the threshold; Now do it for the sake of indie rock as a whole, if not for one’s own preturnaturally fragile and otherwise hyperbolic, ego.
The minute you dine with Bono and Chris Martin together will be the day that you are dead to the world as far as social relevance goes.
That won’t matter though when you are wining and dining in your exclusive Mercer Island digs, if that’s not where you’re wining and dining nowadays.

I don’t know, he probably is too mushy for most guys, but I am a girl, so I will see his mushy lyrics and raise him a pair of horn-rimmed glasses! :p
