Beta Testing

2 May

Hey everyone (both of you),

Remember when I was really anxious about the whole “Why Should We Hire You?” question?  Well, apparently, my advice actually worked, because I got the job!  I am currently working with the US Census Bureau, but that job will end in a few weeks, meaning for a week or two I will be probably not-so-happy because I’ll be working 74 hours a week, but at least I can say that I have jobs to go to. Take that, economy!

Isn’t it weird that whenever you finally do land a job, it seems that everyone to whom you applied starts calling you wanting to hire you?  Regardless, I feel very thankful and blessed.

I’m kind of thinking it may be time to bury Gravy and Biscuits.  As much as I love the logo and everything that went into it, let’s face it: I don’t give a crap about celebrities, and I never did.  The only enjoyment I get from blogging these days is when I get to write something here or working for Eric on Idol Mania.  Who knew that people would actually like what I have to say on a show with which I have so many problems? I mean, I could go on all day about what’s wrong with American Idol. Normund Gentle forever.

So, it’s almost grocery shopping time again, and you know what a nut I am about that! The coupon clipping, the sales paper hunting, the spreadsheet making…it saves me tons of money, but it can be time consuming!  And time is something I’m not going to have a lot of in the coming weeks. So, I started looking online for a website that would show what all the sales were on an item, but I couldn’t find anything.  So then I was like, hmm, I wonder if there’s an “admatch.com”, where you can type in a type of food, and it will show you where it’s the cheapest.  And indeed, there is an “admatch.com”, but you know what it is?  A website about matchbooks.  With ads on them.

Enter “ad-match.blogspot.com“.  It’s just something I’m going to try to do in my spare time.  I have no idea how to do algorithms or anything cool like that, but I can certainly list what’s on sale by store in my area and maybe help out someone like me.  Who knows, maybe other people (hint, hint) wouldn’t mind sending me some sales papers from their area, and this could be a big help to a lot of people!  Or maybe it won’t, who knows.  For now though, it’s in beta, so please tell me what you think!

xoxo till next time.

Congrats on the job :) in this economy, it has to feel awesome.

I myself am out of work; fresh out of college and into the cold of real world reality…….I need my whale skin coat and fur dungarees, but those dang PETA people keep dousing me in blood…..savages…..

I avoid grocery shopping like I avoid going to the hospital — and I enjoy both just as much. So I buy about 2 months worth of groceries at a time and I don’t ever use coupons. I want to get in and get out as quickly as I can. I buy the same stuff every time because my diet is so limited. Eating is the most boring part of my day, and I often forget to do it. Now, if you could figure out an algorithm to get me a cheap chef, we can talk! Mwah!

I don’t blame you for shelving Gravy & Biscuits. The celebrity website market is so glutted, and if you don’t enjoy it, there’s no reason to continue. I was impressed you were able to update it so frequently. These days, I’m only good for one post every couple of weeks. Making a living just takes all the inspiration away.
